About this property

Welcome to Inn At Irving Place

Located in a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood of Gramercy, the Inn At Irving Place occupies two historic 1834 brownstones that retain their Victorian charm. The property features Victorian-inspired rooms that blend classic style with modern comforts, including air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. Guests can enjoy a unique tea service in Lady Mendl's Tea Salon on site, alongside dining and cocktail options in a setting praised for its cozy ambiance.

The hotel offers a small and intimate experience with just a handful of rooms, allowing for a personal touch in service. While the decor is distinctly vintage, some guests note the building's age means it may lack the soundproofing found in more modern hotels. Key amenities include a restaurant, airport shuttle, and paid parking, though the property does not accommodate pets or feature a pool. Check-in is from 3 PM, with check-out by 11 AM.

Surrounded by historic bars and upscale dining, the location provides convenient access to New York City highlights such as the Empire State Building, Times Square, and the Museum of Modern Art. The neighborhood's quiet streets and the nearby gated park offer a contrast to the city's usual bustle, appealing to visitors seeking a peaceful retreat within Manhattan.

Guest reviews often highlight the welcoming atmosphere, with compliments for attentive staff and spacious suites that provide a retreat from the busy city. The inn's vintage vibe and attention to detail make it suited for travelers who appreciate history and charm over the standard hotel experience. Overall, the Inn At Irving Place fits well with visitors looking for a quiet, character-filled stay in a historic part of New York.

One of the best places in the City. A hidden gem into the past of Gramercy. Wonderful staff, beautiful environment, great tea service, incredible linens. I could go on forever. I want to stay here forever.

The service and ambiance here were exceptional. The building has a lot of personality and the charm of an old inn. The suite I stayed in was generously large, and it overlooked Irving Place with a lovely view. If you're a light sleeper, you'll want some ear plugs if you're staying in a room that overlooks the street, as it is an old building not built to be soundproof.

Perfect for what myself and my friend wanted for our first trip to New York. Fabulous location and the bar downstairs was nice for a night cap after our show at Irving Plaza! We loved the vintage feel about the whole place as well.

Super-chic yet Charming tea room/hotel takes you on a Magic Carpet Ride to another time and place. Opulent, ornate and very low-key, it is definitely a reminder of a New York from yesterday. Keeping true to its culture and charm. I would definitely recommend going to have a cup of tea and cookies with your best friend or a third date.

A hidden gem for a portrait photographer. If your client can book a room, you'll get a fabulous variety of Victorian backdrops to shoot them against, both in the room and in common areas if it's not a busy season or time of the day/week.

Service, location, amenities… everything is very exclusive and wonderful. Highly recommended! We stayed in room Stanford White on the second floor, facing the peaceful backyard. Super comfortable bed, very spacious, lots of storage, wonderful bathroom. Two beautiful brownstones connected, lovely common area. There is a tea room which we did not test but looked fabulous. The bar was closed but also looked very promising. I’ve been to NYC several times but this was by far the best experience. Thank you TIAIP Team!

I absolutely loved staying at the Inn. This was such a gift of a place. After looking between AirBnB and hotel options in the area, we’re so glad that the Inn was available. The room was ready for my husband and I upon arrival - AC was on and the room was spotless and clean. I loooved the old world style and decor of our room- and the overall property! We stayed in the O’Henry and it was absolutely perfect for the both of us. Elijah was there to welcome us on our very late check in (we arrived very early morning 2am). When you book here, definitely don’t expect all the bells and whistles of our “normal” century hotel stay as it’s very small (only 9 guest rooms total) and our key was a real metal house key that isn’t digital or electronic. Very old school - BUT I honestly loved the simplicity of it all. The nostalgia was just divino. Our overall experience felt very homey and cozy: starting from the website to the check in to the customer service and amenities. The location was perfect for us in what we were visiting NYC for! I will definitely stay again

This hotel is VERY different from a normal hotel. It's in a converted brownstone and only has a few rooms. My room is HUGE, easily 4-5 times the size of a normal Manhattan room. The decorations are classic and can look old at times, but it's a really unique effect and I like it. It's also the quietest hotel I've ever stayed in on Manhattan. I had trouble getting the wifi to work, so business travelers that can't hotspot may want to look elsewhere. I will definitely stay here again!
